My mom's birthday is in March, so the whole family headed to the beach to celebrate. We rented a house in Seaside, and spent the weekend relaxing. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful weekend!

Ethan turned one on February 23rd, and we celebrated with a super fun Dr. Seuss birthday party. It was a great time and I think it turned out really well.

We got Ethan a train table for his birthday. He loves it, although he doesn't play with it as intended...he insists on tearing it apart.

A Day in the Park...

We have had two BEAUTIFUL days here this week...we were able to get to the park both days, and the kids had so much fun! I just love to see them run and laugh and play! Abbie makes instant friends on the playground and Ethan loves the swings!

9 Months

Ethan's 9 month appointment went great. He weighed in at 22.5 pounds and was 31.5 inches long! We have a big boy on our hands...and a handsome one at that:) Also....he is walking!! Yea Ethan!

This Halloween was spent much like the Halloweens of the last few years--dressing up and visiting family and friends, and then heading to church for the harvest party. Abigail dressed as Sleeping Beauty and Ethan wore the skunk costume Abbie wore a couple years ago. They had a great time and were very cute.

Ethan's 6th Month Check-Up

It has been a long time since I last posted, seeing that I'm just now getting to Ethan's 6th month appt. and he is almost 9 months now! Nevertheless, he is doing great and was just over 21 pounds and 29.5 inches long at his check-up. I can't wait to see how much he has grown over the last 3 months...and I won't wait so long to update you all this time around:)

Every Labor Day Weekend, we go to Nehalem Bay State Park for our all church camp out. We always have so much fun and this year was no different. Abbie is now old enough to go play with her big girl friends without mommy watching her every move, and she loved it! This was Ethan's first camping trip, and he had a blast as well!

I really wanted to wait until Ethan was 6 months old to feed him any "real food", but it just wasn't going to happen! We could tell he was ready, as he was showing all the classic signs. So we finally gave in about a week after he turned 5 months. He was sooo interested in our food and would just watch the food go from our plates to our mouths. Poor guy:) His first meal was rice cereal and big sissy got to feed him his first bite!

Abigail turned 3 years old on July 18th! WOW...the only word I can use to describe how it feels. We are so blessed to have such a loving, passionate, smart, fun and chatty little girl. I am so amazed at how fast she is growing up...she has friends, is reading, loves church, art and gymnastics, and is so good to her baby brother. I could go on and on, but I won't...I'll just get to the pictures of her special day! Enjoy:)

4th of July---and more!

We had a great 4th of July this year! We kicked the day off by attending the Ridgefield parade...it was great because we found a spot in the the shade:) We then took Abbie to see the movie Up. It was her first time in a movie theater, and she had a lot of fun. We ended the day with a BBQ and fireworks at my parents house. Growing up, holidays were always special and I have many wonderful memories of the times spent with family. But now that I have children, holidays are even more special and wonderful. I love watching Abbie enjoy herself, surrounded by our family and friends, because I know that when she is grown she will remember these special days just as I do.

Ethan turned 4 months old last week. His appointment went great...the doctor said he is doing perfect! He weighed 19 pounds and was 27 1/2 inches long. He is changing so much every single day and I honestly could not ask for a better baby. He is pure joy!

2 Months!

Ethan had his two month appointment yesterday. He is doing perfect...growing like a weed! Measuring in at 25 inches tall, he tops the height chart. Weighing in at 16lbs. 3ozs., he is off the weight chart!! He is such a big, beautiful boy. He is starting to smile and coo and I just can't get enough of it.

We had a long spring break this year, first spending some time in Black Butte, OR with Andy's family and then some time in Newport, OR with my family. We were gone from Friday to Friday, but both kids did great. I thought Abbie would have a hard time getting back into her normal routine when we got home, but she hasn't at all:)

One Month

Ethan turned one month old yesterday...I can't believe it! I took him to the doctor's office to get weighed and couldn't believe what I saw...12 lbs 4 ozs! That's over two pounds in two weeks! I guess I don't need to worry if he is getting enough milk anymore:) Abbie went with me, and did an awesome job. I was worried about taking them both out on my own. I have always had someone with me when going somewhere up until this point. Anyway, she did great and made the ladies at the front desk laugh too. She told them all about how baby brother lost his cord, pees on mommy, and cries a lot! "Wow, you are just full of information aren't you?" the lady said to Abbie.

Things seem to get a little easier each day, and we are getting in more of a routine. Although, Ethan's sleeping and eating isn't becoming routine. But we are working on that. One day at a time, right?

I can't believe that it has been almost one month since Ethan was born. I feel awful that I haven't taken more pictures of the little man, but I can't find the time to do basic things around the house, let alone take pictures! He is so handsome and is growing so fast. At his two week appointment, he was supposed to be back up to his birth weight of 8lbs 14 ozs. He weighed in at 10 pounds!!! The doctor said she hadn't seen that good of a weight gain before...she said it was great though. He had also grown an inch.
Things are very different the second time around. Easier in a sense, I guess because I have done it before. But also harder, because now I have a 2 1/2 year old to chase around! Abbie has been doing well though. She loves her brother so much. We have had some jealousy issues...we have also been having "terrible two" issues in general. Everyday is an adventure, that's for sure! But it's the best adventure I have ever had!

Baby's Room

I finally "finished" the baby's room. Really, I still need to do a few things decoration wise. But I am feeling like it is good enough for him to come whenever he is ready. And I hope he is ready SOON!

I painted a quote above the crib, but didn't like the way it turned out...so I painted over it and now need to decide what to put up. The quote was "As soon as I saw you, I knew and adventure was going to happen"-Winnie the Pooh. But I couldn't get the paint to look the way I wanted it:(

Zoo

We have taken a few trips to the zoo this January. The weather has been beautiful and winter is my favorite time to go. During the week, you have the zoo almost to yourself and all the animals seem to be out and about.

Abbie was able to put her face right up to the glass and look into the eyes of this beautiful creature. It scared Abbie though, and she quickly backed up a bit.

Christmas Eve was a wonderful day. We always go to my parents house and have a big family dinner. It is a great time...here are some pictures from the day.

Although we didn't get snow up our way this weekend, it was still very cold! Abbie was hoping for snow, but mommy was the one who was really disappointed we didn't get any. Abigail is so excited about Christmas! She has been helping mommy decorate the house, go Christmas shopping, and has even helped wrap the presents. I love watching her play with the nativity set and tell the story of baby Jesus....it is so precious. Abbie has already had her Christmas photos taken...twice, and we are going to get our tree on Saturday. This truly is the most wonderful time of the year, and I am so happy I get to share it with Abbie!

Abigail's third Halloween was a success! She had a great time getting dressed up and going around town to visit family and friends, even though she was starting to get sick. Abigail dressed as a fairy princess and played the part well, waving her wand around saying "bibbity-bobity-boo!" I don't have many pictures, as I have yet to find my camera. I'm actually not expecting to find it, just patiently waiting for Christmas hoping for a Canon Rebel XS:) Abbie stopped at great-grandma's house after going to the Harvest party at church. Lucky for her, cousin Ruby had also stopped by, so they got to play for a little bit.

We have been back from our Disney trip for weeks, but I am just now getting around to adding the rest of the pictures. Abbie had such a fun time and talks about the trip every day. She wants to go back! Every time she sees an airplane, she says "look mom, the airplane is going to Disney World!". Or when we go somewhere in the car she says, "I'm going to Disney World!". So we are already planning our next trip...but it will be after the baby is born and we will be going to Disney Land, where it is much cooler and less humid!

Disney World--Day 3

Our third day was spent at Epcot. This park is much slower paced, as there aren't many things Abbie can do. We enjoyed walking around the different countries. Abbie stopped at every fountain so she could get her hands and feet wet and throw coins. We have found that Abbie feels much better and isn't so cranky when she is cooled down. A really nice wind picked up in the afternoon/evening and felt so good...it was just what we all needed. It was funny to see locals (or people use to this awful heat) wearing sweaters and longs pants!!!

Disney World--Day 2

Our second day at Disney was spent at the Animal Kingdom. Abbie enjoyed seeing all the animals...we had a great view of the rhinos, lions, giraffes, monkeys, and zebras on the safari ride (plus lots of other animals). Abbie is still hesitant to ride on any rides...that Snow White ride really messed her up:( Hopefully it will get better throughout the week. In the evening, we had reservations for a dinner show at the Wilderness Lodge. It was called the Hoop-de-doo Musical Review. It was a lot of fun and Abbie loved being able to make as much noise as she wanted...screaming, clapping her hands and banging her fork on the plates!

Disney World---Day 1

Today was our first full day in Orlando...and it was a great day! We got in late Saturday night...about 11:00 pm. Needless to say, Abbie was exhausted! She did amazing on the plane though:) Today (Sunday), we decided to hit the Magic Kingdom. We got there about 12:00pm and stayed till 7:00! I can't begin to explain the joy I had watching Abbie's reaction to it all. She was sooo excited and was in awe of all the characters! We made one mistake...the first ride we went on was "Snow White". Abbie has books about Snow White and knows who she is, so we figured she would enjoy it. She didn't! It was way too scary for her and she cried most of the way through it. After exiting the ride, I realized it was really named "Snow White's Scary Adventures"! It took awhile, but she finally got over her fear of the rides and enjoyed some of the others. Her favorite was It's a Small World. She wanted to go on it over and over...we only did it twice. After a long day at the Magic Kingdom, Abbie enjoyed two hours in the pool at our condo! Mommy enjoyed it too:)

This morning as I was getting Abbie dressed on her changing table, she clearly counted all of her fingers on one hand. "One, two, three, four, five", as she pointed to each one! I was sooo excited and filled with joy. We have been working on counting for so long, and it was like it just clicked...she can count objects! She then proceeded to count to six! She is getting so big:)

We leave for Disney World in a week! Can't wait to see Abigail's reaction! She is going to have the BEST time...I just know it. Hopefully I will get a camera this week so I will have lots of pictures:)

Abbie Update

I haven't been able to find the camera for weeks now, so I still don't have any photo updates of the little princess. But rest assured, Abbie is growing and learning so much. It is amazing how she is able to speak more clearly everyday. She is really developing a sense of humor and makes her own little "jokes". A few days ago, she was joking with her papa about the giant cat Chica really being a dog.

Abbie is what I like to say, a woman. She LOVES "pretty dresses" and wants to wear one everyday. She has a couple of favorites that I am constantly washing because she hunts for them! She has a set of princess high heels that she wears around the house and pretty much everywhere we go. She loves to have her hair done and requests "pretty hair bands". She always has her toe nails and finger nails painted and has even tired to get into mommy's make-up (but that's a no-no). However, I must say that even though she is very girly, she has a tough side as well. She loves to play soccer with daddy and wrestle with her papa and uncle Levi. Daddy can't wait till she is old enough to go out fishing on the boat!

Abbie has an amazing love for animals and manages to find them everywhere we go. She loves to sing and dance and can really carry a tune! She also loves to color and draw...she has discovered markers and they are always her first choice.

One of our most cherished times with Abbie is bedtime. We get to snuggle with her and talk about her day...it is a fun time for all of us.
Here is how tonight's conversation went:

We are leaving Thursday for the all church camp-out. It will be a lot of fun and Abbie is excited, as she had so much fun camping last month. I'm hoping I will be able to find the camera by then!

Last night, Andy and I were driving and Abbie was in her car seat pointing out the things she was seeing. When she spotted an airplane high in the sky, I said "wow, you have eagle eyes". Abbie quickly responded, "I'm not an eagle, I'm Abbie!" Andy and I couldn't stop laughing!

Camping Fun!

Abbie and mommy went camping last week with papa and pa-ma (Abbie's new name for my mom). Abbie had soooo much fun...this is her third summer camping and she enjoyed it more than ever! Abbie's days were filled with playing in the dirt and sand, looking for birds and chipmunks...and feeding them peanuts, and visiting lots of neat places in and around Newport, OR. Abbie really discovered bird watching...when she heard a bird she would stop and put her hand to her ear and say, "Did you hear that?". It was super cute! She could spot birds from far away and could distinguish the Crows from Blue Jays... of course she was always on the lookout for her favorite bird the Eagle, but we didn't see any.

Abbie's Birthday Weekend

Abbie had a party Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! She had a full weekend of celebrating her 2nd birthday. Here are some pictures from the busy weekend.

Abigail's birthday was yesterday and she had lots of fun. She went to lunch with mommy and daddy, had grandma and grandpa over for pizza and play time and got to open presents! Her big party is on Sunday!

Fun Weekend

This weekend we went to Mount St. Helens. It was nice drive...Abbie had fun listening to the Lion King soundtrack and talking with mommy and daddy. She slept for a little bit:) It was a cool day, but still very beautiful. We had a great time.

Abigail likes to take her shoes and socks off her feet and put them on her hands...she does this often. Here is a picture of her sleeping after making the switch.

Abbie Update

It has been awhile since I posted. Abigail is doing great...growing and learning more everyday. She is doing awesome with colors (she knows blue, orange, yellow, purple, red, green and pink). Abigail can identify the numbers 1, 2, and 3 as well as the letters A, B, and C. She loves to sing songs, play with her dolls, have pretend tea parties, and dress up in pretty dresses! She is such a little girly girl. Here are some pictures from the last few weeks.

We are a foster family for the SWW Humane Society. Here is Abigail's first foster kitten...Abigail named her kitty baby. We have had 4 more since our first.

San Antonio--Day Four

Our last full day in San Antonio was a fun one. We started with breakfast at great grandmas and then went downtown to the river walk. After spending some time downtown, we drove to Austin to meet up with an old friend of Andy's. We had dinner with him and his family. We then made our way back to San Antonio and watched the Spurs game at great grandma's house and said bye to family. We had a great trip and can't wait to go back next year!

San Antonio--Day Three

Our third day in San Antonio started with breakfast at Pattie's...a yummy little Mexican restaurant. It is a local favorite and has the BEST flour tortillas! We eat here at least once every time we visit. After breakfast, we visited the San Jose Mission. It was such a neat and beautiful place. We then checked out the local real estate market and followed that with even more Mexican food:) We can't get anything this good back home, so we have to eat it up while we're here!

San Antonio--Day Two

Our second full day in San Antonio started with Seaworld! Abigail L-O-V-E-D it! Everything was a hit, from the shows to the dolphin feeding to the coral reef. After a long day at Seaworld, we went to a great Mexican restaurant downtown called Pico de Gallo. There is a video at the end from the restaurant.

San Antonio--Day One

Today was our first full day in San Antonio. We arrived late last night after a long day of travel. Abbie was so tired, but managed to greet her great grandma, great aunts and uncles, and cousins. After some much needed rest, Abbie was able to face the full day ahead of her. We first met family for breakfast and then headed to the Spurs/Suns playoff game. Abbie had so much fun screaming and cheering for the Spurs. Somehow, she managed to sleep through the noise during the second half. After the game, we had dinner at a pizza place with lots of fun games for Abbie to enjoy with her cousins. Here are some pictures for today!

Spring Break

We went to Seaside for spring break again this year. We had a great time with mama and papa (grandma and grandpa). Here are some pictures from our week.

Painted Lady

Abigail decided she wanted her toe nails painted. She got into the bathroom drawer and brought me the bag of nail polish. She sat down patiently on the little table in my bedroom and considered each color as I brought it out of the bag. She finally decided on the shade she wanted…pale pink. She looked intently as I painted each little toe nail and was so pleased when I was finished. For those of you who know Abigail well, I’m sure your finding this hard to believe as Abigail is the most active little thing you will ever see. But it’s true! And what’s even more amazing, after her toes were done she picked out a new shade for her fingers! However, I was only able to finish one hand before we had a spill…nail polish all over Abigail, mommy and the carpet! Now…does anyone know how to get nail polish out of carpet and clothes???

Amazing Abbie!

I’ve known since she was born that I was been blessed with an amazing child, but recently I have been in awe of the little person Abigail is becoming. Andy and I are trying our bests to be consistent with our little girl, hoping of course to raise a “perfect angel”! But we often find ourselves looking at each other and laughing at some of the things Abbie does.

Abigail seems to wake up every morning with a bigger vocabulary. I keep telling people it won’t be long before she’s talking, but in reality she already is. I can completely understand what she says to me (most of the time) and I’m sure she knows what I’m saying to her. Just last night I was trying to get her ready for bed, and like always she wanted to keep playing. I asked her to get in her pajamas and she told me “No (her favorite word), I want my kitty.” I couldn’t believe it as I counted the words in my head…she just made a five word sentence!

Abigail is a strong and independent child. She is so courageous and doesn’t seem to be afraid of anything...which makes me really afraid! She loves to climb on furniture, the jungle gym at the park, and just about anything she manages to get her feet on. She is also loving and compassionate and has a heart for other children and animals. One of her favorite books is Dumbo. During the story, two boys are teasing Dumbo because of his big ears…and every time we read it, Abigail gets a sad look on her face and firmly scolds the boys for teasing Dumbo. It is so funny…and sweet!

Abigail is still nursing. Yes, I just said what you think I said…she is still nursing. I know it’s time to cut her off, but I keep telling myself it’s good for her, so it’s ok. But really, I just can’t say no to her sweet face. She loves to cuddle up and get “nunnies” as she calls it. And she has figured out that if she puts her hands over her face and “cries”, she can get pretty much anything she wants.

Abigail has also become very possessive of her mommy and daddy. If Andy and I are hugging or cuddling on the couch, Abigail gets upset and has to get in the middle of us and get “loves” too. It’s really very funny. We were at the store last week and a woman was fitting Andy for a tux. Abigail ran across the room to her daddy and made it very clear that this woman was not to be touching him.

Abigail is just so amazing and I am truly thankful for every single day I get to be with her. She is becoming a little lady and I can’t wait to see all the things she will do! Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. Enjoy!

January 2008

Well, it has been a month since I posted...so I figured I better fill everyone in on what has happened this month. Abigail is so close to talking. She already has so many words she can say and she is making two and even three word "sentences" at times. I know it won't be long until we can have conversations :) Abbie also started potty training this month. She loves to "go potty"...I'm just not sure she understands what's really supposed to happen. She runs to the bathroom saying "potty, potty"... takes her pants and diaper off and sits on her potty. She laughs and claps for herself... gets up to wash her hands...then starts the whole routine over again. She has yet to actually "go" potty. I know it will only take one time and then she will understand what’s supposed to happen. Until then, she can continue her potty game. We have had many adventures this month as well. Abbie has gone to the zoo, OMSI, Multnomah Falls, and the library. We have thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine we've had this month and went to the park almost every day! Overall, it has been a great start to 2008!

A couple of weeks ago Abigail surprised mommy by climbing onto the table. She has been at it ever since and mommy is having to come up with creative ways to keep Abbie away from the chairs!

Abbie is also climbing on other things...chairs, couches, beds, etc. As you can see in this picture, she skinned her nose after falling off her rocking chair...which she was standing in while rocking!
